  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am school preparation and drop off | 1:00pm to 8:30pm (with flexibility depending on daytime administrative requirements)
  • Salary: From £70,000 gross per annum
  • Start: Anytime before September 2026

  • Commitment: Long Term

The Role

A highly organised and experienced Governess is sought to support two delightful girls aged 9 and 11 years old within a warm, values driven family based in Tunbridge Wells.

The role will primarily focus on supporting the family’s 11 year old daughter with her academic progress, educational planning, homework support, and overall development outside of school hours. The younger daughter is homeschooled and has her own dedicated Governess during the day, however this role will assist with both girls before and after school, ensuring consistency, structure, and excellent organisation across their daily routines.

The position will begin each morning with overseeing the girls’ routines, preparing them for the day, ensuring school bags, uniforms, sports kits, and belongings are organised, and accompanying them through the school drop off process.

Following the morning drop off, there will generally be downtime during the middle of the day. Whilst the core working schedule resumes from 1:00pm, some flexibility may occasionally be required depending on the family’s needs, including administrative tasks, appointment coordination, wardrobe management, or errands relating to the children.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for overseeing the girls’ schedules and logistics, including arranging medical and dental appointments, managing wardrobes and seasonal clothing requirements, organising activities, coordinating diaries, purchasing items for the children, and ensuring all aspects of their day to day lives run smoothly and efficiently.

From the afternoon onwards, the successful candidate will be responsible for both girls, overseeing their routines, activities, wellbeing, and day to day needs. However, the primary educational focus of the role will be supporting the family’s 11 year old daughter with her academic progress, including homework supervision, study skills development, educational planning, and encouraging intellectual curiosity and independent learning.

Whilst the successful candidate will care for and support both children during the afternoons and evenings, the younger daughter has her own dedicated Governess during the day and therefore will not require the same level of academic oversight. The successful candidate will work closely with the family to ensure both girls continue to thrive whilst maintaining a balanced, enriching, and well structured lifestyle.

The family holds strong Christian values and would welcome a Governess who shares those values and can positively reinforce the family’s approach to manners, respect, integrity, and personal responsibility. The children are well behaved, kind, and respectful, and live a lifestyle intentionally free from social media and influences that do not align with the family’s beliefs.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the younger child’s Governess, creating consistency across both girls’ routines and development whilst maintaining an individualised approach tailored to each child’s needs and personality.
