I founded Quintessential Governess out of a genuine, lifelong passion for the wellbeing and development of children—and a deep desire to raise the standard of care in the private childcare sector.
Over the past 20 years, I have served as a Nanny, qualified secondary School Teacher, and Governess for a wide range of UHNW families. Through these experiences, I’ve gained a rare, inside-out understanding of the complexities, pressures, and emotional dynamics that exist within private households. I know what works—and more importantly, I understand why so many placements fall short, despite strong CVs or impeccable references.
At the heart of every placement I make is one simple but essential question: What is best for the child?

My interest in psychology has always been more than academic—it’s instinctive. I’ve learned to read between the lines, to observe what’s unsaid, and to make intuitive decisions that lead to long-lasting, harmonious placements. This insight allows me to advocate for both children and caregivers with equal clarity.

Our bespoke consultation packages are led personally by our founder, Georgia Barry. You’ll receive tailored recommendations and a candidate matching strategy designed to ensure long-term success and harmony.
In addition to elite childcare and educational staff, we also place private household staff such as butlers, housekeepers, estate managers, and personal assistants. We also recruit private chefs and hospitality staff for clients who require exceptional culinary and service talent.
