The Role
A highly academic and experienced Governess is sought to support the education and development of a bright and exceptionally able 9 year old girl who is currently being homeschooled. The child was withdrawn from mainstream education as she was performing significantly ahead of her peers and is now working at a secondary school level.
This is a fully staffed household where the primary focus of the role will be educational. The successful candidate will take ownership of the child’s academic programme, ensuring she remains challenged, engaged, and progressing at an appropriate pace whilst maintaining a balanced and enriching childhood.
The ideal candidate will be confident delivering lessons across a range of subjects, monitoring academic progress, creating structured learning plans, and sourcing specialist tutors where required. In addition to academic oversight, the Governess will organise and coordinate extracurricular activities including horse riding, swimming, tennis, and other enrichment opportunities, ensuring a well rounded timetable that supports both educational and personal development.
The family holds strong Christian values and would welcome a Governess who shares those values and can positively reinforce the family’s approach to manners, respect, integrity, and personal responsibility. The children are well behaved, have clear boundaries, and live a lifestyle intentionally free from social media and influences that do not align with the family’s beliefs.
The child enjoys reading, learning, and academic pursuits, whilst also participating in a variety of sporting activities. She can be somewhat introverted at times but is confident, thoughtful, and secure in who she is. The family is seeking a Governess who can build a strong long term relationship and guide her educational journey over many years.
