The Role

An international family relocating to Oxford is seeking an exceptional Male Technology Mentor for their highly intelligent 12-year-old son, who will join Summer Fields School in September 2026.

The boy has a strong interest in computer game development, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Science and entrepreneurship. The central focus will be teaching C# programming and game development using Unity, within the context of an existing project.

Working around his boarding-school commitments, the mentor will guide him through the complete development process—from concept, planning and coding to testing, debugging and launch. The aim is to develop his technical ability and independence while helping him understand how technology products are designed, marketed and developed into commercially successful businesses.

The family has an established technology background and is involved in developing AI-driven platforms. This is therefore an exceptional opportunity for someone passionate about technology, innovation and mentoring gifted young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach C# programming and game development using Unity.
  • Guide the boy’s existing project from concept through development and launch.
  • Support planning, coding, testing, debugging and project documentation.
  • Introduce relevant concepts in AI, Robotics and emerging technologies.
  • Encourage independent problem-solving, research and experimentation.
  • Teach product development, entrepreneurship, commercial strategy and game promotion.
  • Help develop clear project milestones and a structured business plan.
  • Liaise with developers, engineers and designers where appropriate.
  • Build confidence, resilience, leadership and sound decision-making.
  • Act as a trusted mentor and positive male role model.
  • Travel internationally when required.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in C# and Unity.
  • Strong practical game-development experience, ideally from concept to launch.
  • Relevant degree, Master’s or PhD; Russell Group, Oxbridge or Ivy League education preferred.
  • Oxford postgraduate and PhD students with suitable experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of AI, software development and the wider development lifecycle.
  • Commercial understanding of technology products, game promotion and entrepreneurship.
  • Engaging, proactive and able to explain complex concepts to a 12-year-old.
  • Fluent English
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and psychometric assessments.

Package

  • Accommodation:  Preferably live-out; accommodation may be considered
