  • Salary: £85,000 + per annum DOE
  • Schedule: 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday (downtime during the day)
  • Accommodation: Live out (live in when travelling)

The Role

Quintessential Governess is seeking a capable, creative and proactive Governess for an 11 year old boy based in Notting Hill. This is a fully staffed household with a warm, welcoming family who foster a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone helps one another.

The role centres around the family’s eldest child, a bright, imaginative boy who loves to read and has a wonderful sense of creativity. The Governess will provide structure, organisation and educational support, helping him feel secure and confident in his daily routine. Strong skills in maths are essential, as well as the ability to assist with homework, school communication and academic planning.

Working hours are 7am to 8pm, before and after school, with downtime during the day while the boy is at school. This time will be used for planning, coordinating with tutors and teachers, liaising with household staff, and assisting with light PA duties where required. The parents are busy and travel frequently, so occasional proxy parenting will be needed.

Responsibilities include:

The household includes two younger children who each have their own nannies. While the focus of this role is on the eldest, the Governess should be happy to assist with the younger siblings during travel or when needed.

• Native English speaker
• Strong academic background, particularly in maths
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Confident liaising with teachers, tutors and schools
• Proactive and resourceful with strong initiative
• Intelligent, emotionally attuned and dependable
• Able to create structure and stability for the child
• Warm, nurturing and engaging with a good sense of humour
• Willing to travel and assist with occasional PA-style tasks
• Driver not required (driver available)
