Job Description
- Location: Paris (term time) & Provence (summers)
- Children: Twin boys, aged 7
- Salary: £85,000–£95,000 DOE
The Role
A warm, cultured Franco-British family are seeking an experienced Governess to join them in Paris during the academic year, with summers spent at their home in Provence. Their twin boys, aged 7, are lively, curious, and full of energy. They attend a bilingual school in Paris and already show strong academic potential, but the parents are keen for their education to extend beyond textbooks into projects, creativity, and exploration of the wider world.
The family values curiosity, kindness, and integrity — they are looking for a Governess who will be a mentor as much as an educator, guiding their sons with empathy and enthusiasm. They understand that a Governess can only offer her best when she is supported herself, and are committed to providing structured working hours (after-school and holiday schedules), downtime, and respect for personal boundaries.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting and extending the boys’ bilingual education (English and French)
- Planning stimulating after-school projects in STEM, arts, and humanities
- Instilling good manners, resilience, and independence
- Coordinating diaries, school activities, and liaising with teachers and tutors
- Organising cultural excursions and educational trips during holidays
Candidate requirements:
- Degree in Education, Arts, or Humanities desirable
- Native English speaker; conversational French an advantage
- Strong emotional intelligence and intuitive approach to children
- 3+ years’ experience in UHNW or private households as a Governess/Tutor
- Organised, proactive, and confident in creating engaging learning environments
At Quintessential Governess, we ensure that placements are partnerships. This family values open dialogue and mutual respect, ensuring the Governess feels as nurtured and valued as the children she supports.
