A warm and welcoming international family based in Tuscany is seeking an exceptional German-speaking Educational Nanny / Governess to support the care, wellbeing and educational development of their 5-year-old son.

This is a long-term rotational position within a fully staffed household. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the child’s daily care, educational development and emotional wellbeing during their rotation, whilst working collaboratively with the wider household team.

As the child’s mother is not present, the family is seeking a highly dependable, emotionally intelligent and nurturing professional who can provide stability, consistency and a secure environment in which the child can flourish. The successful candidate will become an important, trusted figure in the child’s life and should be confident taking full responsibility for his day-to-day care during their rotation.

The father travels internationally for business but is highly involved in his son’s upbringing and places great importance on education. He is looking for a candidate with an excellent educational background who can inspire a love of learning whilst providing outstanding pastoral care.

• Providing full care of a 5-year-old boy during your rotation.
• Creating a warm, secure and emotionally supportive environment.
• Supporting the child’s educational progress and German language development.
• Planning engaging educational, creative and outdoor activities.
• Managing the child’s daily routine, including meals, school preparation, bath time and bedtime.
• Taking full responsibility for the child’s day-to-day needs, including the organisation of the child’s belongings and clothing.
• Preparing meals and snacks for the child when required in the absence of the family chef.
• Accompanying the child to school and extracurricular activities when required.
• Liaising with the father and providing regular updates on the child’s progress and wellbeing.
• Working collaboratively within a fully staffed household and ensuring seamless handovers with the second rota nanny.
• Maintaining the highest levels of discretion and confidentiality.
• Travelling with the family when required.

• Fluent German speaker (native or near-native level). Candidates with an outstanding command of German, including British candidates with advanced German language skills, will be considered.
• Fluent English.
• Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a Nanny, Governess or Educator.
• Experience caring for children aged 4–8 years.
• Qualification in Early Childhood Education, Education, Pedagogy, Psychology, Child Development or a related field preferred.
• An excellent educational background with a genuine passion for learning and child development.
• Previous experience within private households or international families preferred.
• Previous rota experience highly advantageous.
• Calm, discreet, emotionally mature and highly organised.
• Able to work collaboratively within a fully staffed household.
• Driving licence preferred.
• EU passport or the legal right to work within Europe.

Interview Process

• First-round interview with the House Manager and senior household staff.
• Second-round interview with the Principal.
• Final stage in-person meeting at the family home.
